The Tender Hearts Foundation (THF) conducted an awareness campaign on International Widow’s Day 2023, with the objective of shedding light on the mistreatment and injustices faced by widows. Their long-term program focused on empowering widows in Nigeria and ensuring the recognition of their rights.
Dr. Amb Sally Othihiwa, the founder and president of THF, delivered a speech during the event, expressing the foundation’s unwavering commitment to empowering widows in Nigeria. THF acknowledged the difficulties and systemic inequities that widows encounter, and they have taken up the cause to instigate positive change.
The 2023 International Widow’s Day program highlighted the significance of collective action in addressing social issues. This initiative provided a platform to raise awareness about the ill-treatment of widows and advocate for justice and equality. The aim was to amplify the impact of their efforts and establish lasting transformations.
This year’s program on International Widow’s Day was conducted in collaboration with the Crime Victim Foundation. The event took place in Bariga, Lagos State, on June 23, 2023. It served as a significant occasion to address the challenges faced by widows and equip them with knowledge about their rights. The theme, “Know Your Rights as a Widow,” aimed to educate widows about their legal entitlements and empower them to assert themselves in society.
